Intel Corp. has upgraded the wireless networking capabilities of its Centrino line of notebook computer chips to allow broader network access with improved security.
Intel’s new Centrino chips can connect to 802.11a networks in addition to the already supported 802.11b and 802.11g. 802.11a wireless networks can support faster transfer speeds and have better interference avoidance features.
The new chip also includes support for 802.11i, which Intel said is geared more for corporations looking for the latest security measures.
