Iomega Adds Three New StorCenter Models

The 500G, 750GB and 1TB networked storage boxes provide plenty of storage without the hassle of running a file server.

Iomega rolled out their latest network storage solutions on Tuesday for small business users and home users. The StorCenter line targets home users and small businesses that have the need for networked storage needs but don’t have an IT department to handle the complexities of a traditional file server.

The three new models in the StorCenter line come in 500GB, 750GB and 1TB capacities. The two smaller models both use single drives, but the 1TB version has two 500GB drives. They can be set up to use RAID 0 (both drives read and write at the same time for faster performance), RAID 1 (one drive is a mirror copy of the other for redundancy), or JOMB (the two drives just as act as one big one). All the StorCenter models use 3.5-inch, 7200 RPM SATA-II drives.

Iomega claims the drives can be set up in only minutes using the included Discovery Tool Pro software on PCs or Bonjour on Macs with OS X. All three drives are available immediately through Iomega. The 500GB version runs for $269, the 750GB is $359 and the 1TB is $389.
