LaCie Debuts d2 Blu-Ray Drive

LaCie's new external d2 Blu-ray burner offers 8 times burn speeds and ships with Easy Media Creator 10 and MToast 9 Titanium.
Peripheral and accessory maker LaCie has announced its new external d2 Blu-ray Drive, offering 8× writing speeds and both USB 2.0 and FireWire interfaces for use with either PCs or Macs. The unit also ships with Easy Media Creator 10 and Toast 9 Titanium for authoring blu-ray disks and backing up important data, files, and media. The 8× write speed is two times faster than La Cie’s previous external Blu-ray offering.
“With the doubling of the speed to burn Blu-ray discs, video professionals will be able to spend more time creating content and less time on production,” said LaCie multimedia product manager Christelle Dexet, in a statement. “And for those who need to safely store large quantities of information for extended periods of time on secure removable media, the LaCie d2 Blu-ray Drive is an ideal solution.”
The drive supports dual-layer BD media for up to 50 GB of storage, as well as a number of other DVD and CD formats, including BD-ROM, BD-ROM AACS, BD-R, BD-RE, DVD±R, and CD-R.
The d2 Blu-ray Drive is available now for a suggested price of $449.99.
