Getting into the reported details of the laptop, the new XPS 12 will come with a 12 inch, 3,840 x 2,160 (4K) display. And like the extremely well-received XPS 13 laptop, it looks like Dell will be using what it calls its Infinity Display, which essentially means there’s almost no bezel around the outside of the screen.
The main thing that makes this stand out over the previous XPS 12 is the detachable keyboard dock that will allow the tablet to be used as a laptop. It will attach to the tablet via magnets, and will feature backlit keys and a standard touch pad. For an alternative input method, the report indicates that Dell’s pressure-sensitive stylus will work with the new device as well.
According to the leak, there’s going to be Thunderbolt 3 with a USB Type-C connector. This will allow buyers of the hybrid to connect it to an external display or transfer data at extremely high speeds.
The report indicates that the new XPS 12 will feature an 8 MP rear-facing camera and a 5 MP front-facing camera.
There are some key specs about the device that we don’t know, such as how much RAM it will feature and which processor will be installed. Though we’d guess there will be a fanless Skylake Intel Core M chip, as that seems to be the standard for these types of devices. If the report is correct, we should find everything out by October when the device is expected to launch.
