Lunar Eclipse Video Hides Malware

Hackers are hiding a Trojan in a video of Wednesday night’s lunar eclipse.

Did you see the lunar eclipse on Wednesday night? If you didn’t or couldn’t, perhaps the idea of having it on video sounds tempting? That certainly seems to be what hackers are hoping.  Since yesterday spam e-mails have been flying around offering video of the event, according to security company Websense. Vnunet reports that the e-mails have headers like:   ‘Total Moon Eclipse Video on NASA TV’
‘Moon Eclipse is visible today’ ‘Lunar Eclipse Video, Your guide to the total lunar eclipse’
‘Shocking video with Total moon eclipse’   The problem is that the download is really a Trojan that gives administrative control of your PC to a hacker. You might do better instead to wait forthe next lunar eclipse. After all, it’s only in December 2010.
