Texas company behind "uber geek" keyboard claims that by making all of the keys blank on this black beauty you will learn to type faster and more accurately.

The keys are blank. The keyboard is black. Is it cool looking or a silly idea? While the verdict may be out until individual user reviews say, the Das Keyboard from Austin, Texas-based Metadot is shipping now.

This USB compatible, $79.95 “uber geek” keyboard, according to a press release, is unlike other keyboards in the market in that all of the keys are blank. This supposedly forces users to stop looking down as they type, speeding up key memorization and “resulting in faster and more accurate typing”. In addition, the keyboard features five different levels of activation force, which corresponds to the strength of the finger typically used to strike it. The result, Metadot says, is more comfort for the user’s hands.

“Das Keyboard was designed for elite programmers who write sophisticated code under tight deadlines, someone who makes impossible projects possible or the person that colleagues turn to when they need IT advice,” said Birgit Guermeur, project manager for Das Keyboard. “This keyboard is a must-have for gung-ho coders or gamers who want a keyboard that not only looks cool but accelerates their output rates.”
