The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the major memory makers are being investigated for price fixing.

According to the Journal report, an investigation into the memory industry may bring criminal charges for some of the big memory makers, including Micron, Infineon and Samsung.

The Journal said that an anti-trust investigation is nearing completion and Government prosecutors may charge the companies of engaging in cartel activities.

The story alleges that the major memory firms conspired to fix prices on memory chips between 2001 and June 2002. During that period of time, there was a steep inrcrease in memory prices which followed a slump in the previous months.
