Microsoft Looking For Its Search Mojo

At his annual CEO Summit, Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates hopes to convince executives Microsoft Live Search can find whatever they want.

At his annual CEO Summit in Redmond, Microsoft chairman Bill Gates plans to tout new search and information management capabilities built into future versions of Microsoft operating systems and application software, including Windows Live Search, designed to provide a single access point for searching users’ desktops, corporate intranet, and the Internet at large. But how receptive are companies to the idea that their employees waste valuable time simply looking for information? And how many resources do they really want to throw at enterprise-wide solutions?

Microsoft believes that attempting to manage and process overwhelming amounts of data in the workplace is impacting the productivity of information workers.   1. Ian Bell and Dan Gaul at 9:44am 18th May 2006 I have heard that the current Microsoft Desktop Search works very well (as does Google) so if they could just modify that (I may sound like an idiot here) then it might work just fine.
  2. Matt at 9:39am 18th May 2006 I agree with you Jeff, the cost will far outweigh the impact of the program. It's all good and great to tlak about the ifs and maybe's, but until I see the price affordable and I see the product work. It's a nasty 4 letter word.. hype
