Microsoft warned on Tuesday that three "critical" flaws in the Windows operationg system and other programs could leave systems vulnerable to hackers.

The three “critical” security warnings were announced yesterday as part of Microsoft’s monthly security bulletin, along with another vulnerability rated as “important.”

A software patch that fixes the problems was also released. Windows operating systems dating back to Windows 98 are affected as well as Internet Explorer and the Outlook express e-mail program.
