The Creative MuVo2 is a portable digital music player that has an integrated 4GB Hitachi microdrive. The drive normally retails for about $500, but photographers have noticed that the MuVo retails for $200 – and includes the same drive.
So consumers are buying all of the MuVos they can get their hands on and cannibalizing them for the microdrives. The remains of the MuVo players can then be either sold on eBay or fitted with a smaller capacity drive.
Andy Mack of Hong Kong was one of the first to notice this cost-savings and posted directions on his Website.
