Nvidia Quadro NVS 420 Drives Four Displays
Nvidia's new Quadro NVS 420 video card can drive up to four 2,560 by 1,600-pixel displays...and it'll fit in a small form-factor desktop.
Graphics developer Nvidia has taken the wraps off its new Nvidia Quadro NVS 420 video, which offers the capability to drive up to four 30-inch 2,560 by 1,600-pixel displays. And, unlike most cards packing that kind of power, the NVS 420 fits in a small form-factor (SFF) desktop computer.
“The convenience of small form factor computers can now finally be matched with remarkable business graphics and digital display capabilities,” said Nvidia’s general manager for professional solutions Jeff Brown, in a statement. “The Quadro NVS 420 transforms these small form factor machines into business graphics powerhouses.”
The NVS 420 ships with Nvidia’s nView display software, which enables users to treat multiple displays as a single desktop, or cut the displays into multiple regions or up to 32 different virtual desktops to maximize productivity. The software can also extend the Windows taskbar so application window buttons can span multiple displays. The NVS 420 uses DisplayPort connectors.
Although the NVS 420 is aimed mainly at professionals who need to see a lot of data at once—think about folks who work in the financial industry, some journalists and analysts, systems administrators, and security professionals—the card can also be applied towards retail signage use. The card also sports low maximum and idle power levels, and uses a variable-speed fan so it puts out less noise.
The Quadro NVS 420 should be available in February for a suggested price of $499.
