PC Makers Shun Windows XP Reduced
PCWorld.com has a great news story saying that despite the EU's efforts to remove Microsoft's media features from Windows, PC vendors will use them anyways.
According to their story, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, and Fujitsu Siemens Computers plan on preinstalling the full version of Windows including all of the media features regardless of the EU’s (European Commission) decision to have Microsoft offer a “medialess” version of their OS.
“It simplifies our ordering process to not have to distinguish between versions of the OS we load and ship with our systems,” a spokesperson for Dell says. “We will continue to monitor demand and could look at this again later if customer preference changes.”
According to the story, industry analysts are not surprised by the PC vendors lack of support regarding the EU’s decision.
