I have a refurbished LS1500 and it's been working great for the past 3 years.

I turned it on today and it wouldn't boot-up properly; I get the "windows did not start successfully" screen and none of the options does anything apart from sending it back to the same screen.

I don't believe it came with any Windows disk.

Any ideas?

I've had a Freevents MT2500 from new. Unlike eveyone else I've had no problems with it! I cocked up during a change to a larger HDD so had to get a restore disk. So…

If anyone needs a copy of a restore disk for an MT2500 email me jfd0709(at)live.co.uk. Change the (at).

I HAVE HAD MY ls1000 freeline from new COST was over £1000 . after the first year the hard drive went down it was replaced since the hardrive maxtor gaurunteed for three years not 1 yr like the pc .I have had huge problems with this machine for years formated hundreds of times lost loads of music vids etc settings licences for windows etc .Then i read that its a problem with the case design and overheating so i removed the side panel about 6 months ago . The pc quietned down it only thrusts when in boot up . However the hardrive is failing . I have recently scrapped windows microsoft and installed Ubuntu this is open source software . The pc is working very well under this operating system i would encourage anyone with this pc sitting in a closet somewhere to go and install ubuntu from the internet ” Linux ” i will never use windows again !!!! search ubuntu google life will never be the same .
I wanna keep this pretty machine depite the clock tells me the wrong time !

Hi Martin, I too have a MT2800 and it is acting up. Unfortunately when I try to do a system restore it freezes on the option stage hence also need a sytem restore disk. Has anyone got back to you where to get one.

What did Tech Guys want to charge for a disc?

Ive had a handful of philips computers that wouldnt accept the Media center Xp serial given with them on this Oem (system builders)version, but its very rare.

Any that didnt activated by phone fine.

Drivers arnt included.

Check your ATX cable and other power cables inside first,
if problem persists try replacing RAM,
one of these should be the problem.

Can anyone please tell me why, when I turn my LS1000 on does the fan go crazy and all I get is a repeating bleep, nothing else? Has the crappy PC World curse hit me. I do hope they go bust soon!!!

775 pentium 4 standard thingy in the freeline, the original 3.2 Dual Core that was in there is in my beast now...
got an ATI HD 3650 on a powercolor board - the fan on it is proper sh!t so ordered a Scythe Musashi to beef that up.
whole freelines being sold 2mora at last!!!

Im asuming your machine has an Lga 775 processor socket, in which case a pentium 4 single core would drop straight in. Im thinking maybe philips tried to recorrect the overheat issue with a dual core and made the problem worse!!!! Lmao…. or maybe they just DONT CARE…..

The Freeline was released about a year after the Freevent, exactly the same machine, same parts but obviously with a dual core instead of a Pentium 4, 775, 3.4 ghz. To be honest i think that philips just stamped a new name on the freevents case just to get rid of them!, obviously thinking that a dual core processor would solve their massive **** up lol.(pardon my french).

I notice the new Freeline isnt low profile…..

The Tv Tuners from the Freevents are very simliar to this..

ahh, ive worked on the freeLINEs not freevents. do the freevents have low profile cards aswell? the freelines ive worked with (LS1000, 1100 & 1200) are all supplied dual core as far as i found. last year i came across one with a 3.2 Dual Core Grantsdale confidential E.S. in! bonus for me…

All older freevents machines come with a pentium 4 as standard, If you have a dual Core your machine is a refurb.

There are 2 extra PCI express slots on the Asus P5E-VM HDMI motherboard.

thats a nice lookin board
would be a shame to waste the cards that come with the freeline tho (the board has only 1 pci slot, freeline LS's have 3 pci cards!)
ive found easy way of dealing with
1 underpower
2 overheat
is if possible just change processor to a single core (dual cores usually inside freelines give more heat, especially noticable in a little case like this, and also use less power)

what did you do with your old cards, are they up for sale?
