Sign up on Blippy and the site will share your purchases with others, including your friends and even strangers.

DO YOU BUY IT?: A free Web site called Blippy encourages people to connect accounts at online retailers to profiles on its site so they can automatically share purchases with friends.

WHY BOTHER: Some will see Blippy as oversharing central. But its creators believe it can help people learn about products and deals. Thinking about how everything you buy will be posted on Blippy could make you hesitate before making an unnecessary purchase.

THERE ARE LIMITS: You can hide certain transactions in your Blippy feed, or make it so that only approved friends can see what you’re buying.

  2. Ian Bell at 9:47pm 18th February 2010 This is pretty scary I think. I see no advantage to sharing what you buy with others. Privacy is completely gone and it will only show others how much of a shopping addict you are. From what I have seen, it just says where you bought things from, I.E. the grocery store. It doesn't actually show what you purchased. Some things will be self-evident, like my friend Dan's purchase from Pauls Playful Products. I think we can all guess what that might be! haha
