Why didnt M$ build their OS's similar to OS X. You wouldnt need any 3rd party software to run portable apps.
Dont see the point anyway. Every stick I've had I've uninstalled U3.

So Microsoft are finally waking up to the idea of portable applications. Wow - very new (NOT). You can carry an office suite on a usb stick already (see portableapps.com). Only the boys from Redmond will probably find a way to make a nice new expensive proprietary protocol and a 'specially enhanced' file sytem to make sure you can't read the files on linux. Perhaps I'm just giving them ideas.
U3 was ugly. I doubt M$ will make it any less so.

I think that if I want to go places with my 'portable' desktop,.....it will be stored on my laptop, not a flash drive.

I like the idea of bringing your desktop any where, like in Novell and Linux, Microsoft just has to get its claws in everywhere. Its a too bad the lengths they go to to make their product the only one that the market can use. I call that, monopolistic. The Justices where definitely blinded by Microsoft's Lawyers in the court case.
