Sanyo’s WXU700 Projector Includes 802.11n Wi-Fi

Sanyo's portable widescreen WXGA PLC-WXU700 projector is the first in the world to offer 802.11n Wi-Fi, supporting WXGA wireless video streaming.

Sanyo has officially announced its PLC-WXU700 portable LCD projector, which is the first in the world to include 802.11n Wi-Fi wireless networking to support full resolution (1,280 by 800 pixel) WXGA video streaming. The WXU700 runs Windows Embedded CE under the hood, and can be used as a network projector from any computer running the Windows Vista Network Projector function; the computer will automatically find the project via the network and set up a connection in one easy step.

“The Widescreen WXGA Ultra Portable Projector market is expected to grow significantly in 2009,” says Sanyo Presentation Technologies VP and general manager Mark Holt, in a statement. “The PLC-WXU700 was designed with the most advanced features to meet the needs of the market with the industry’s first high-speed ‘n’ wireless functionality, video streaming, and the highest brightness in its class for superior images in any environment.”

The WXU700 also sports wired 100Base-T wired Ethernet in case no wireless network is available, a USB port for attaching USB storage, and if users don’t have a computer they can load their presentation materials onto the projector using a USB drive. The WXU700 features a 1,280 by 800 WXGA resolution, a 500:1 contrast ratio, a 1.6× optical zoom, 3,800 lumens of brightness, and a 275 Watt projection lamp. The unit accepts HDMI, analog RGB, component, composite, and S-Video input, and support picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture functions.

The WXU700 should be available in June for $2,995.
