The new Vaio UX Micro PC, with a starting price of $1,799.99, comes in an extremely small form factor and sports a 4.5" SVGA touch screen, among other features.
Sony today introduced their smallest Vaio PC to date which runs off of Microsoft XP Professional an Intel Core Solo Ultra Low Voltage CPU. The new Vaio UX Micro PC is priced at a starting configuration price of $1,799.99 and should be available in July.
The Vaio UX Micro PC, said Sony, measures a mere 5.91†x 3.74†x 1.27-1.50†and weighs around 1.2 pounds. It sports a 4.5†wide SVGA touch screen and comes equipped with a stylus as well as an integrated keyboard which appears when the screen is slid up. Other features of Sony’s newest pocket-sized PC include wireless WWAN, WLAN and Bluetooth connectivity technologies; two integrated digital cameras – one in front for video conferencing and another located on the back for taking photos; a VGA adapter to connect the PC to a projector; an integrated biometrics fingerprint sensor; hard drive shock protection technology; and an included docking station with three 2.0 USB ports, Ethernet, VGA, iLink IEEE-1394 interface and an AV output.
“This model is an achievement in ingenious design,” said Mike Abary, vice president of VAIO product marketing at Sony Electronics in the U.S., in a statement. “With this pocket PC, you can have the same functionality as your office or home PC in a device that fits in the palm of your hand.”
