Sony Brings X505 Series Laptop To The U.S.

Sony's VAIO VGN-X505 notebook features a nickel carbon casing, a sleak design and weighs in under 2 pounds.

Available in June, the new PC is designed to meet the demands of the executive business traveler while setting a new standard for functional design.

The VAIO X505 is among the first notebooks ever to feature a carbon nickel casing, contributing to the computer’s extra-slim form and keeping it in the featherweight class at a little under two pounds. With a 10.4-inch screen and a full-featured keyboard, the X505 squeezes the performance of a notebook twice the size into a package that is about half an inch thick.

“Significant technological advancements went into making a PC this small,” said Mike Abary, general manager of VAIO PC marketing for Sony Electronics. “In addition to pioneering the use of new materials for the casing, we’ve also pushed the envelope on motherboard design shrinking it to the size of a MiniDisc
