Sony Shows Off New Powerful, Portable Z Series Notebook

Sony's new Z series notebooks are powerful, stylish and light-weight.

Sony brought out its new slim and sleek Vaio Z series today. The new Z series consists of two models, the VPCZ11Z9E and the VPCZ11X9E. The ultra-mobile Z series notebooks weigh below 1.45kg and support up to 6GB of RAM, Quad SSDs, and a full HD 1920 x 1080 (model VPCZ11Z9E) VAIO Display Premium. Measuring 13.1”, Sony claims this crisp screen with LED backlighting offers “exceptional brightness, clarity and contrast.” The Z series also sports a wide color gamut of 96% Adobe RGB coverage for vibrant reproduction of Full HD video and still images.

Sony didn’t skimp on the graphics either for these new light-weight PCs. The Vaio Z series features integrated NVIDIA GeForce GT330M graphics chipset with 1GB GDDR3 VRAM. Sony says the intuitive notebooks feature an AUTO mode which detects usage conditions and switches automatically between STAMINA and SPEED modes to suit the task at hand. Powered by the latest generation of power-efficient Intel Core processors, the new Z Series models are shipped with Genuine Windows 7 Professionals.

The new VAIO Z Series of high-performance ultra-mobile notebook computers by Sony is available from the end of March 2010. You can pre-order the new VAIO Z Series from Sony Style and choose from range of add-ons.

David at 6:13pm 19th January 2010 Sony is showing the world that you don't have to SACRIFICE OPTICAL DRIVE, you can still make it ultra-portable,slim & stylish. I like the way sony is leading its products. Like it says on sony site - " Who says you can't have it all " Sony should make Blu-ray option as standard on there laptops.This I am sure is a very good selling point for Sony compare to others selling laptops with out optical drives.
When you buy a laptop with out optical drive, you still end up buying a external optical drive, which will cost you extra money and if you have to carry it it is two things to carry. It is all a scam from the laptop makers to cut cost and sell more products at our cost.You end up spending more money and have more number of things.
Other companys sell there laptops saying you don't need optical drive any more,that is not true still. It is so much more convenient to have one. More so if it is a blu-ray play back, you can watch good movies while on move,with hdmi you can connect to your Hotel flat screen tv,very good when you children, to make them quite or feed them ect. you can carry there favorite show or movie with you.if you are on work, staying for a while you can rent movies from Redbox anywhere.You can burn pictures ,music or documents for friends or family when you are traveling, there is still lot of use.
