Steve Jobs: Can’t Touch This

Apple it retaliating after an unofficial bios of Steve Jobs was released to bookstores by pulling the publishers tech books from their own Apple Stores.

“Apple Computer Inc. has retaliated against the publisher of an upcoming unauthorized biography about chief executive Steve Jobs by removing dozens of other technology books sold by the publisherfrom Apple stores around the world.

Apple removed the books last week from all 104 of its stores after failing in a month-long attempt to persuade John Wiley & Sons not to release “iCon Steve Jobs: The Greatest Second Act in the History of Business,” which is to go on sale within the next six weeks, the publisher said.

The book-spurning is only the latest attempt by Apple executives to crack down on writers who publish or distribute unauthorized or secret information about the computer maker. It’s a strategy that experts in brand management say is likely to backfire, only adding to the notoriety of Apple’s critics and encouraging sales in countless other bookstores. “

TechFreak at 12:54pm 16th May 2005 Well I dont think the hardware is in question, just Steve Job's ability to get people to like him. Apple no doubt has some great products, but Steve just makes me NOT want to buy any!
Stu Dog at 12:48pm 16th May 2005 Apple is one of the most useful computer companies because Mac OS X is useful to the average computer user. I myself plan to buy a PowerBook G4 or a Mac mini because Microsoft has the worst run operating system, Windows XP. Mac OS X has fewer errors, bugs, and viruses than Windows XP. On top of that Windows/PC users are more likely to have spyware infected on their computers, than of Macintosh users running Mac OS X.

I used to be a Windows User, but i like the Mac's security with UNIX and the aqua-based OS.

fungku at 7:42pm 27th April 2005 this only hurts the consumers of apple. not you want buy those books from an apple store?? wtf. and from what i hear the book does not put Jobs in a bad light.
James at 2:08pm 27th April 2005 Apple is beyond ridiculous with their lawsuits and temper tantrums. I am tired of hearing how Apple is upset with people all the time.
