Symantec executives laid out a broad strategy Wednesday to expand the company beyond its core business of selling anti-virus software.

Company executives said Symantec is stepping up efforts to sell security software to companies and also help them integrate and manage security into their computer networks.

The Cupertino maker of Norton anti-virus software reported record sales last quarter as computer users spent to fend off Internet attacks such as the “Sobig’ and “Blaster’ worms.
