Toshiba just announced the Portege Z830 series, its first laptop to adhere to Intel’s new Ultrabook specifications. The new Portege will have a 128GB solid-state drive (SSD), feature Intel’s newest Core processors, a 13-inch screen, weigh 2.5 pounds (roughly), and measure just 0.63 inches thick. It also has a number of shock and spill resistant technologies built into it, making it one of Toshiba’s first consumer-grade laptops that can take a beating. Best of all, it gets 8 hours of battery life and costs “less than $1000,” according to a representative. The laptop will hit shelves this November.
