Universal broadband adoption likely

Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) Vice President of Technology Policy Michael Petricone issued the following statement regarding universal broadband.

“Yesterday’s release of the final rules to deregulate last mile broadband facilities is a giant leap toward making universal adoption of broadband a reality. While we still need to review the final rule, we are hopeful that it will contain the CEA supported High Tech Broadband Coalition’s proposal removing outmoded regulations that were stifling investment in last-mile broadband infrastructure.

“We thank the Commission for its tireless efforts to advance competition in the broadband marketplace, providing limitless benefits to consumers and a much-needed boost to the economy.”
