USB-Powered 7-Inch Mimo Monitors Hit U.S.

Ever wanted just a tad more screen real estate? Mimo Monitors' 800 by 480 7-inch USB displays are now available in the United States.

If you’ve ever wished your desktop or notebook computer had just a squinch more screen real estate—you know, for those pesky palettes, IM applications, gadgets/widgets, calculators, monitoring applications, streaming video, music players, cheat sheets, and more—then Mimo Monitors wants you to know its USB-powered 710 and 740 7-inch USB displays are now available in the United States. And, unlike a traditional desktop display, you don’t need a dual-head graphics card to use the display: the 710 and 740 run right off any available USB 2.0 port.

The displays offer a 7-inch 800 by 480-pixel display that can pivot between portrait and landscape orientations, weigh just 1.3 pounds, and work with Windows XP/Vista as well as Mac OS X. The Mimo UM-710 sports 350 cd/m² of brightness and a 400:1 contrast ratio, while the UM740 boasts the same specs but adds touchscreen functionality, a microphone input and audio in/passthrough (think Web cams), along with a second USB 2.0 connection for pulling extra juice from under-powered USB systems.

The UM-710 is prices at $129.99, while the UM-740 is priced at $199.99—although they’re backordered at the moment, Mimo Monitors is offering free shipping in the United States.
