VoodooPC Introduces New Gaming Notebook

The Envy H:171 runs on Intel's new Core 2 Extreme processor, dual GeForce GPUs, and can pack up to 600GB of data. Just don't expect to send your kids to college after buying one.

Days after Intel announced that its Extreme line of processors would be coming to notebooks, VoodooPC appears to be the first to roll out a new laptop with one of Intel’s high-end processors under the hood. The Envy H:171 packs Intel’s Core 2 Extreme X6800 processor along with a 17-inch screen and scores of other performance features aimed at satisfying gamers.

The most blatant of the computer’s gamer-centric features are its dual Nvidia GeForce Go 7950 graphics processors driving its 1920 x 1200 widescreen display. That’s more graphics processing grunt and resolution than even most high-end desktops can claim to offer. Hard drives are also offered in multiples, with customers choosing between one, two or three 200GB drives. VoodooPC, an arm of HP, claims the laptop offers “blisteringly fast response times” on compatible games and gives multi-tasking users the ability to run as many applications as they want without slowdown.
