WebEx Makes AOL’s Business Buddy List

WebEx and AOL are teaming up to create AIM Pro, a version of AOL's Instant Messenger for business users.

American Online and WebEx have teamed up to create AIM Pro, a version of AOL’s Instant Messenger specially geared towards business users.

“We are extremely pleased to be working with WebEx to offer at-work users a customized AIM experience that works in a professional environment and addresses today’s business communications needs,” said Brian Curry, AOL’s VP of Premium and Subscription Services, AOL, Inc. “Co-created with the recognized business collaboration leader, the new service will bring business-class IM, online conferencing, collaboration, desktop sharing and advanced multimedia services to the global workplace.”

The companies plan to make two editions of AIM Pro: one for individual professionals (like freelancers, sole proprietors, and contractors) and small- to medium-sized businesses, and a second enterprise edition with centralized administrative features. The main feature of AIM Pro will be encrypted communications with other AIM Pro users
