No matter how many boy scout sessions you’ve attended, nothing will ever prepare you to untangle the cords of your headphones when you whip ’em out of your bag. How they manage to get into such intricate knots continue to astound us, but thanks to CordCruncher Headphones, we may never have to face this problem again.
The Kickstarter project aims to create a pair of earbuds with cords encapsulated inside a flexible, elastic cable. You can bend and fold the cable to fit whereever you find appropriate: Around your neck, behind your head, on your wrist as a bracelet, let your imaginations fly. You can adjust the cord length from 16 inches to 3.5 feet, and when you’re done using the the earbuds, just throw them back into your bag and it remains tangle-free.
Unfortunately, you won’t be able to purchase the CordCruncher to use with your own audio accessory. The included earbuds boast specs of 10 mm speaker diameter, 104 db sensitivity, and a frequency response of 20 to 20,000 Hz. That’s pretty much about the same as a generic Skullcandy earbuds, but for about the same price of $20 to fund the Kickstarter, you do get that tangle-free convenience. CordCrunchers come in your choice of Pearl Blue, Rocket Red, and iGizmo White (what, no classic Black!?). They are also compatible to work with most popular mobile devices such as iOS gadgets, Android, computers, and other MP3 players.
The project is currently already fully funded at more than double the asking goal, so you can expect the product to begin shipping some time next month. Watch a demonstration of how to put together the CordCruncher below.
