Ian Bell, CEO

Ian Bell co-founded Designtechnica Corporation in June 2004 with partner, Dan Gaul. It was later renamed Digital Trends in April, 2006. Ian serves as the President and CEO. He brings to the company more than 10 yrs of IT management experience. Ian has held positions at Lockheed Martin and Intel Corporation. Ian was the recipient of Microsoft MVP award for Digital Media from 2004 through 2008. Ian studied Marketing and Business at the University of Oregon.


Dan Gaul, CTO

Dan Gaul co-founded Designtechnica Corporation in June 2004 with partner, Ian Bell. Dan serves as the Chief Technology Officer. He brings to the company more than 12 years of software development experience. Gaul leads all IT and software development for the company. Prior to Digital Trends, Daniel led a team for Real Jukebox and RealPlayer at Real Networks. Daniel also held positions at Microsoft and Clarus Corporation. Gaul studied Mathematics at the University of Washington.


Scott Steinberg, Publisher

Scott Steinberg joined Digital Trends in July 2007 with the acquisition of Embassy Multimedia Consultants, a premiere game industry consulting firm, which he founded. Scott serves as the Publisher. He brings to the company more than 10yrs of marketing experience in gaming/digital media. Scott is responsible for all content on digitaltrends.com. Scott is also a popular radio/TV host and writer; he's covered consumer technology for 300+ outlets from The New York Times to Playboy, Rolling Stone and TV Guide. Prior to Digital Trends, Scott founded multiple startups including software producer Overload Entertainment and publishing outfit P3. His books include Videogame Marketing and PR, Get Rich Playing Games and The Videogame Style Guide and Reference Manual.


Nathan Bell, Chief Financial Officer

Nathan Bell joined Digital Trends in 2008 and currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer. In this role, Nathan manages all aspects of the company's finance and accounting operations. Before joining Digital Trends Nathan served as the Chief Credit Officer for Native American Bank, N.A. in Denver, Colorado. Nathan has several years of combined experience in credit and finance, having spent time in banking, small business finance, and commercial credit. Nathan has worked for a diverse range of organizations, including TransUnion, LLC, Nationwide Funding, LLC, and Commercial Federal Bank / Bank of the West. Nathan holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Computer Systems from Bradley University and an M.B.A. from DePaul University. Prior to moving to Portland, Nathan served on the Board for the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Risk Management Association, and was the founder and chapter leader of the Denver DePaul University Alumni Chapter.


John Gaul, Financial Advisor

John serves as an advisor on finance for Digital Trends. John Gaul has over 20yrs experience in both public and private sectors of the accounting profession. He has held numerous management positions and has served as a corporate officer for several companies, including Cascade Pole Company and Fred Tebb & Sons, Inc. Gaul has owned and managed his own public accounting firm, John E. Gaul, CPA. He is a member of the Washington State Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Management Accountants.
