Ian Bell, President and CEO
Ian Bell co-founded Designtechnica Corporation (renamed Digital Trends in April, 2006) in June 2001 with partner, Dan Gaul. Bell serves as Editor-in Chief as well as President and CEO. He is a 2004 and 2005 Microsoft MVP award winner for Digital Media. Prior to Digital Trends, Bell held positions as an IT Analyst for Lockheed Martin, a Sourcing Consultant for Intel Corporation and was the VP of Marketing for The Ostler Group, a strategic marketing firm. Bell studied Marketing and Business at the University of Oregon.
Dan Gaul, Chief Technology Officer
Dan Gaul co-founded Designtechnica Corporation (renamed Digital Trends in April, 2006) in June 2001 with partner, Ian Bell. As Chief Technology Officer, Gaul manages all IT and software development for the company. Prior to Digital Trends, Gaul worked at Microsoft as a Software Test Engineer on the Exchange Server NNTP team, Clarus Corporation as a Software Test Engineer and was the QA Lead for RealJukebox and RealPlayer at Real Networks. Gaul studied Mathematics at the University of Washington.
Scott Steinberg, Chief Marketing Officer and Publisher
Scott Steinberg joined Digital Trends in July 2007 with the acquisition of Embassy Multimedia Consultants, a premiere game industry consulting firm, which he founded. As CMO and Publisher, Steinberg oversees all marketing and business development functions, with an eye towards growing DT's internationally-acclaimed brand. A popular radio/TV host and writer, he's covered consumer technology for 300+ outlets from The New York Times to Playboy, Rolling Stone and TV Guide and founded multiple startups including software producer Overload Entertainment and publishing outfit P3. His books include Videogame Marketing and PR, Get Rich Playing Games and The Videogame Style Guide and Reference Manual.
John Gaul, Chief Financial Officer
John Gaul has over 45 years experience in both public and private sectors of the accounting profession. He has held numerous management positions and has served as a corporate officer for several companies, including Cascade Pole Company and Fred Tebb & Sons, Inc. Gaul has owned and managed his own public accounting firm, John E. Gaul, CPA, since 1990. He is a member of the Washington State Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Management Accountants.
Matt Aalto, Business Development
Matt Aalto joined Digital Trends in April 2006 and handles the company's business development and partner relationships. With over 10 years of business management experience in retail consumer electronics and travel services, Aalto will be developing new markets and opportunities for Digital Trends unique content. Aalto studied Marketing and Business at the University of Oregon.
