Purchased May 7, 2005 at Best Buy. Added ATI X700 Pro PCIe vidcard and 1024Mb more RAM at purchase. Added full versions of NIS2005 and eTrust Pest Patrol at purchase. I love this machine: plays DVDs flawlessly and has zero trouble with my flight sims. I wish it had the doubled-up floppy/digital media manager that the T6000 has– that would give this machine a 10/10 rating. I hope the board can handle a 3700+ chip; that’s my next upgrade. Buy a T6212 and put a few bucks into it; you’ll love it.

Looking for a cheap new box to replace my tired P3 system, I made the local rounds. When I saw the T6212 at Best Buy, I was surprised that Emachines had moved so upscale to the Athlon 64 and 939 pin MB. I asked the sales guy to open the box so that I could assess its upgradability; then, quickly satisfied with the number and types of expansion options, I pulled out my credit card and took the T6212 machine home with me. In the next few days, I moved on a couple of upgrades. I added a small 20 GB hard drive taken from my previous system and installed a Phillips Acoustic Edge 706 sound card I had in my parts inventory. Then, I went online to shop for an inexpensive video card: I found a Radeon X700-based card priced at $109 and ordered it. Since my T6212 with the addition of an Asus EAX 700-X now scores 2445 on Futuremark 3D 2005, I can play the latest games at modest configurations. Finally, I added a second sound card, a Chaintech Via Envy 24-based one for an unbelievable $25, to give me optical input to my Sony STR-DE895 receiver connected to 10″ Dual DJL103E speakers. Fast, looking good and sounding great, I have no complaints about my customized Emachines T6212. To my ears, the hard drive is not noisy. Get one for yourself and add inexpensive mid-range PCI-E graphics. You won’t be sorry!

In my opinion, a excellent computer. I upgraded the RAM to 1.0 and added a Nvidia graphics card. I play all of todays hardcore graphics games at full. It is a great machine for he price. With all the USB ports, all gaming apparatus can be plugged in and left there. I left the integrated sound card alone. It plays just fine with 5.1 surround. Other then that it was a out of the box great machine!

The upgradeability of this desktop is the key feature here. The article didn’t mention that the motherboard that the T6212 comes with uses the same socket as the new dual-core 64-bit 3800 chip just released by AMD. That cpu is the only true same-die dual-core chip on the market and has blown away all the competition upon its release last month. That means that its just a matter of swapping the chips out in a future upgrade to harness dual-core power! How sweet is that? Talk about future proof!

Also the article failed to mention that this PC can upgrade the DDR to 4 gigs of dual-channel memory.

First thing I did was buy a Radeon X700 PCi-Express card for $100 which frees up the 128 mb of ram the integrated graphics uses. Then I bought another 2 x 256 sticks of DDR to up my ram to 1GB of dual channel ($50). Lastly, I bought a Samsung SyncMaster 710N 17″ flat panel LCD for $220. So what I ended up with was one bad ass computer that cost a grand total of only $950, SHIPPED. This computer has plenty of upgradeability remaining for 4GB ram, pci-Express graphics, and a dual-core Athlon64 once it comes down in price.

Also, I have to say that I was simply amazed at Emachines customer service. You’d think that a company like this targetting the low end of the market would skimp on cust service. So when I called cust support about system recovery issues after formatting the second partition where they store the files, I was stunned when a real person answered my call after — get this — 15 seconds during prime time! She was very polite, and spoke perfect english — not outsourced! Then I got a call a week later from another lady asking me if the service met my satisfaction. I tell you I’m not used to being treated this good anymore by PC manufacturers! Compare that to Dell which has crappy cust service. Even Sony, which I own two of their newest laptops and love their products, they also have crappy cust service. But eMachines is awesome.

To top it off, this computer came with a dual-layer DVD burner which costs extra as an upgrade in most similar computers out there. Really you can’t beat this deal nor this company…I’m so happy with my purchase I wish the company best of success in rising to the top of the market, they deserve it.

This eMachines T6212 is an awesome machine! It’s potential to have it upgraded is one of its biggest strong points. You can easily add a PCI express video card, swap for a new 3800 dual AMD 64 processor (the installed AMD64 processor works well) and add up to 4 gigabytes of DDR 3200 RAM. Its got 3 PCI slots available (if you remove the obsolete telephone modem, you will have 4 PCI slots). I added a PCI TV tuner to my computer, and now I can watch and record tv programs using my computer and use it like a Tivo. It’s just great! The T6212 is a computer that has few proprietary parts unlike other brands like Gateway, Dell, Sony and HP. Therefore, upgradeability is easy for the T6212. If you’re looking for a powerful computer that can easily be upgraded, and yet is more affordable than other brands of computers out there, then the eMachines T6212 is what you’re looking for. I do not believe the hard drive is “loud.” It uses a hard drive made by Western Digital, which is a very reputable brand. You can even add a second hard drive to this unit. The DVD and Dual Layer DVD writer work flawlessly. This is a great computer that will last a long time and will not become obsolete in the long future!

I have been using this machine for editing and it works great. When I was doing my research into computers for my business I was a little leary because the specs were great, getting so much for so little caused for little doubt. Doubt is now joy for making such a great purchase. It’s expandabilty is awsome! I added an external Lacie 80 hard drive and another GB internally, it nice to know I can go four.

I bought a refurb for $399, upgraded to 2 gig, upgraded video with ATI 800XL 256MB PCI-e card, upgraded PSU to a Antec TruePower TrueBlue 480 Watt, and bought a 24″ Dell monitor. Total cost around $1600-1700. Next upgrade will be the 64-bit processor. No problems, fantastic!

I ordered three(3) of these machines as part of a technology uplift for my whole family through TigerDirect.com. One machine arrived with a loose disk drive flopping around in the case that was dead on arrival (now I’m going through the whole RMA procedure), another machine works except that its DVDRW drive wouldn’t write, just read (I going through a warranty replacement procedure with eMachines for just the drive). The third machine works perfectly. I boosted its RAM to 1GB (yes, you have to add DIMMs in pairs) and installed a GeFORCE 6600GT (yes, you have to uninstall all ATI software first) as this was suitable for the 300 watt power supply the machine comes with. The result is an Athlon 64 3200+ Socket-939 machine that rocks for little bucks! Just wish quality control was better.

I bought this PC at TigerDirect (now sold out) in early Oct. for $399 U.S.. I have used both bios revisions for MS7093, MSI’s 3.80 and Emachines 4.0b. MSI’s does give a few more options and this is the bios i currently use. No stablity or any other problems to report. I use MSI’s utilities with no issues either. I have upgraded the back case fan from the 80mm to a 92mm MadDog fan (if you open the case you’ll see the case is already set up for this!) and use Speedfan to adjust speed. Also added an expansion slot fan by same company, overall lowered case temp buy 6-8 degrees celsius. Added an Connect3d x800 GTO pci/e ($184.00)modded to 16p and overclocked to 580/560 with ATITool with no problems and have added copper ramsinks to back mem (used extras on southbridge) still on stock cooling 42 idle 81 load, with power adapter plugged in through the dvd/cdrom chain. I use mostly mounted images with virtual drives and haven’t had problems running 24/7. I did try the new emachines bios revision 4.0b but this actually lowered my FSB HyperT speed from 1000 to 800. The old bios had the option for adjustement from 200 to 1ghz (stock was set at 800) but the newer bios actually took away the option so i went back to MSI’s 3.80. Clockgen works great and stock cpu cooler keeps up fine, didn’t even see any temp increase after going to 2.2ghz. If you use this i suggest increase to 2.1ghz then to 2.2ghz as i locked it up a couple times with a direct jump. Fan upgrades and ramsinks, copper, cost $26 bucks. I plan to add 1gb of ram 2×512 as it is dual channel, a 400w+ PSU (the case is ATX formfactor which makes this easy), an SATA drive,, and eventually a 3700+ cpu or better. Way down the road some version of ATI’s x1800 series card. I also yanked out the modem. Plays Doom 3 at 1024/768 High quality, SW Battlfront 2 looks and sounds great. This should last me about as long as my Emonster 550 did, which still works (kids PC)

This computer can go alot faster and perform at least 3 times as good as it came. Just follow these steps:

Get it optimized, you have to do this in order to get rid of all the annoying adds. Makes it go faster.

Buy this and it has to be exactly this, nVidia gForce 6600 GT OC. Make sure its GT OC and has 128 megabytes of GDDR3. This will increase the speed dramaticaly but call nVidia for help to instal it b/c its more than just disabling and installing software.

Once all thats done, delete all the free trials and memberships and that will once again make it faster.

Then if you want to which you dont really need to, you can upgrade to 1gigabyte of DDR RAM. Only do this if you want to play games like Fear. Well it still plays with what you got in for the most part, high settings but you will need to get more RAM b/c when you exit the game it will say “virtual memory is low” But anyway, without the 1 giga RAM it still goes above satisfactory speeds on only 328 megabytes of RAM all b/c of the graphics card.

Then add a whole bunch of stuff to it b/c it practicaly comes with nothing except powerdvd and a really good version of Nero. Well thats what I got.

Hope you find this usefull excuse spelling

nice machine… uninstalled all of the unneeded features because i don’t use the internet, i use it for gaming. the onboard graphics card isn’t quite very goog so id definetely recommend upgrading, i put in an ati X700 from best buy and it runs great, farcry and doom run at highest possible settings, and also just like everybody else put in another 512 ram or a gig and itll be even more faster. another great option would be to make one from scratch on newegg. dfi and biostar are great motherboards for gaming and asus is the most dependable motherboard out on the market right now.

My T2792 mysteriously would not turn on after coming home from vacations. Picked up this used PC from a local on Craigslist. Bumped up the ram to 1.5 GB and it has been an excellent new addition to the family. Very snappy and can handle multiple application with ease (VLC player, Firefox and MS Office). Emachines makes an excellent product at a good value.

Mine was fast at the start. Got slower with age. I added more ram, was fast for a bit and then seemed to slow down again. I run alot on it. I have F-Secure antivirus that runs at least 10 processes in the background which eats alot so that might be the problem. good graphics and great value.

I bought mine about 2 years ago, mainly because it was a less expensive system that was easily upgradeable. It fit my budget and did what I needed it to do. Upgrading the ATI video card was easy enough and so was upgrading the RAM. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for an inexpensive machine. However, the site reviewer was right when they said that the CD/DVD writer is finicky and that the hard drive is kind of loud.
