The Canon S90 is finest point and shoot I've ever owned. I've shot with the Panasonic DMC-FX50 and the Canon SD790IS prior to this camera. When my wife and I went to Europe in November 2009 she kept taking amazing photos with her Canon 5D Mark II and my photos from the Canon SD790IS couldn't approach them. She explained that I had no manual controls. I was fed up and found the Panasonic DMC-LX3 and the Canon S90. I opted for the S90 because of the size. If HD video is more important than the size, get the Panasonic.

If manual controls aren't important for you, the F/2.0 lens might be - it takes great shots in low light without a flash. If you simply need a normal point and shoot camera where you're going to set it to full auto and take pictures with a flash, don't waste your money purchasing this camera. You'll be better suited buying a less expensive Canon with more features. If, instead, you want most of the capabilities of a DSLR then you're at the right place.
Pros: Low light capability with an f/2.0 lens, full manual controls, well built, amazing photos, great screen, HDMI output
Cons: No HD video mode, the strap

>It is a really good camera, definitely a choice for photographers who feel frustrated at the lack of control in pretty much every other small camera.

I was very happy to be one of the first in the Netherlands to buy this camera. Due to the positive comments on forums. Testing it made me very happy! The quality, especially low light performance, is great. And the manual controls are very fast and easy to use. Finally i have a camera that i can carry around always and have the quality and control i like. Ofcourse a DSLR has better quality photo's, but this is the closed thing to it that fits my pocket.
Pros: Low light performance
Foto quality
Manual control (ring)
Great pocket size
Cons: Small for big hands
No HD film quality (if you care)
