I bought the S600, it was okay if you know nothing of photography and don’t need professional results. It’s an average digital camera with nothing special going for it. It’s not very good at close ups (2″-6″). You can pick one up for £200 (I sold mine 1 week after buying it for £200 with a 1Gb memory card and an extra battery) – then I did some research and bought a Nikkon P3, it’s £100 more but superior in evry way.

I got this camera a few days ago and I love it. It’s very small and thin and I can take it everywhere with me. The movies it can take are awesome – I’ve hooked the camera up to a 37″ LCD TV and the movies were clear and sharp. Now, I don’t have to bring my camcorder with me anywhere!

First off, I had to buy a Casio EX-S600 while I was in Europe because I had forgotten to bring my Sony DSC-W5. I can honestly say that I was impressed with the quality of the pics which rivaled that of my sony DSC-W5. More impressive is the battery life of the Casio EX-S600.

I spent two full days in Paris taking pictures with this camera without having to recharge the battery. Now THAT is battery power!

Due to its small size, I was able to simply stick the camera into my jeans pocket when not taking pictures, and I nearly forgot I even had a camera in there!

The only cons I can think of is having to access the menu for about everything from using the macro mode to the timer option. But then again, that is the price you pay when a camera is in that small of a package.

Overall, I’m thrilled with the S600, and have decided to have it replace my Sony DSC-W5!

Power ON/OFF button doesn’t work and battery will not hold a charge.

I just received my EX-S600 back from warranty, because my lens got stuck out, and then once I got it back in, my camera would no longer turn on. Now, I took two pictures and my battery turns incredibly hot, and it heats my camera to a temperature, where I can not even hold it. Now my camera does not turn on again! BAD CAMERA!!!!

I went through 4 of these models in two months. I felt as if I was robbed. I had the same problems with the lens in all cases. And was also refused a refund!

I’m in the process of buying this camera again, as I absolutely love the functions, the ease of use, the size and style, the 30fps video capture, being able to zoom and take photos while videoing.

But I am aware that it is very fragile compared to other cameras. Everything people have said about turning itself on accidentally and getting the lens jammed is true – as it is what happened to my original EX S600. But I’m willing to risk it, hoping I can take better care of it this time.

I have had this camera for about a year and a half now and it has been really good for me. I take it everywhere with me and it works, the battery holds a good charge and the pictures look great. the only thing about this camera is after a while, the screws that hold everything together started to come out, so now i can pull the camera apart, so i have to be careful. Also, when the flash is turned on it sometimes takes a few tries before the picture will actually take.
