I just bought one of these last week. I’ve already taken a few hundred pictures and had a chance to play with quite a few of the manual controls. The GREAT: Clear, Hi-Res pictures, good color balance. Excellent lens. Fast- Fast Zoom, Fast Autofocus, Fast shutter release, Fast burst modes. Outstanding options for metering, exposure adjustments and white balance, ISO settings (including a high sensitivity mode for low light and high ISOs), SD/MMD Storage (not the Sony Duo stuff). Great battery life. Great price. The not-so Great: Proprietary battery. Low light, photos are a bit noisey. The Simple mode really isn’t that intelligent for getting great pictures. If you’re looking for a point-and-shoot, this ain’t it. However, if you want to learn photography and take control of your photos, this camera is unparalleled. I tried the Sony DSC/H5 and the Canon S3 IS, but the plusses listed above won me over.
