One of the highlights of Sony’s E3 press event was the debut trailer for Abzu, the first game from former Journey art-director Matt Nava’s new Giant Squid studios. Not surprisingly, the game–set in a variety of ocean habitats–has the same compelling art style as Journey. The press event also revealed that Nava is enlisting Austin Wintory, the Grammy-nominated composer behind the Journey soundtrack.
The announcement trailer features visuals and a graphical style reminiscent of Nava’s past efforts. There’s a central character who navigates lush kelp forests and encounters enormous sea creatures. The game is scheduled to be released sometime in 2016 and debut first on PS4.
