The Kinect has had some absurdly bad games (looking at you Kinect Star Wars), but dancing games have excelled with the Xbox peripheral. The top dog on the Kinect system is Harmonix’s Dance Central franchise. The two previous titles were well-received here at Digital Trends. That’s right, we do like to get our dance on.
With Dance Central 3, players will have to move their way through various decades, from the 1970s to the present, learning dance crazes like “The Hustle”, “Electric Slide”, and, unfortunately, “The Dougie”. The title also features a new mode called “Crew Throwdown”. The throwdown allows two teams of four to dance head-to-head in a series of performances, dance battles, and mini-games. Harmonix says that they’ve found a way to track up to eight different players at once using the Kinect.
Some new tracks included in Dance Central 3:
- Cali Swag District – “Teach Me How to Dougie”
- Cobra Starship ft. Sabi – “You Make Me Feel…”
- E.U. – “Da’ Butt”
- Edward Maya & Vika Jigulina – “Stereo Love”
- Gloria Gaynor – “I Will Survive”
- Marcia Griffiths – “Electric Boogie”
- Usher ft. Will.I.Am – “OMG”
- Usher – “Scream”
- Van McCoy – “The Hustle”
Dance Central 3 will, of course, be Kinect-only. It doesn’t yet have a release date more specific than Fall 2012.
