E3 2012: Halo 4 ‘Commissioning’ trailer

It’s just not a Halo game if there’s not some kind of live-action trailer with sad music and stirring speeches. The “Commissioning” trailer isn’t the best one that’s ever been released but, hey, it’s live-action and some crazy alien stuff goes down.

After Bungie left Microsoft and Halo, the software giant created 343 Industries to act as stewards for the Halo franchise. Halo 4 will be the first game not made by Bungie, but 343 Industries is full of people from Bungie and other places that are deeply passionate about Halo, so it shouldn’t be too much of a departure. In fact, some fresh blood might bring it to new heights.

Halo 4 introduces a new enemy for Master Chief and humanity to battle against, as well as a revamped multiplayer. The story won’t just be relegated to the single-player campaign — 343 is also introducing a cooperative multiplayer mode called “Spartan Ops,” which will feature episodic content with cinematics and individual storylines.

At the moment, Halo 4 does not have a specific release date beyond fall 2012, but like previous Halo titles it will be exclusive to Xbox.
