Sony saved the best for last at their E3 press conference bringing out Naughty Dog and The Last of Us for the final presentation of the day. Naughty Dog is stepping into a different genre entirely with The Last of Us, dropping players into a post-apocalyptic world that follows Joel (Troy Baker) and 14-year-old Ellie (Ashley Johnson) as they traverse an America devastated by some kind of plague.
Naughty Dog has been pretty quiet on what the disease was and what it did to humanity. Other than the first trailer, they haven’t shown much of the sci-fi creatures. Instead, they’ve focused on Joel and Ellie versus the remnants of humanity, which you’ll see in the demo. This one finds the duo exploring the ruins of a formerly posh hotel when they run into a gang of armed hunters. Slowly and brutally, Joel and Ellie manage to take out the group one violent takedown at a time.
Outside of the acting and violence, what you should really look at here are the graphics. The level of detail is stunningly lifelike. Uncharted’s graphics surprised and awed us and The Last of Us looks even better.
The Last of Us doesn’t have a release date at the moment but like previous Naughty Dog titles it will be only available on Playstation 3.
