Sega may have announced Sonic Boom mere months ago, but the unveil did little to curb the company’s exhibition at E3 2014. Even though the upcoming title, successor to 2013’s Sonic: Lost World, will feature a familiar cast of characters, the game is set in an entirely new location than previous games in the series. Moreover, the villain is a giant mechanized reptile instead of the notorious Dr. Eggman, and the game looks to place greater emphasis on collaboration than past titles in the series. And if that wasn’t enough, Sega and Nintendo are developing the game alongside an animated TV series and line of toys. As showcased during the game’s latest gameplay trailer, it will be a smattering of 2D and 3D gameplay, with the 3DS version of the title providing a feel more akin to traditional Sonic ventures.
Sonic Boom is slated for release on the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS this November.
