Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty may not becoming to Microsoft platforms any time soon, but it appears the upcoming title will make its way to the PlayStation 4. A reboot of the 1997 Oddworld Inhabitants, the 2.5D side-scroller will focus on the iconic humanoid named Abe, following his exploits as he attempts to save enslaved Mudokons within a meat processing plant. The latest cinematic trailer for the title provides an in-depth look at the backstory, and though not detailed in the trailer, the puzzler with feature much of the same gameplay showcased in past titles in the series with slight tweaks. For instance, checkpoint spacing has been smoothed out, ensuring deaths aren’t quite as brutal and harsh an they were in the original. The movement mechanics, soundtrack, and the overall visuals have also been enhanced for the new platforms. Again, check out the title’s E3 2014 trailer for a quick look at Abe’s next venture, set to the tune of Australian musician Elodie Adams’ “Born to Love You” for added effect.
Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty is scheduled for release on the PS 4 on July 22, with additional cross-buy support for all PlayStation platforms. Developer Just Add Water also noted the game will soon be available for Windows, Linux, Mac, and Wii U at a later date.
