There was no shortage of downloadable, free-to-play games at this year’s E3, but Wargaming.net’s World of Tanks was clearly one of the best in show – and rightly so.
When we last spoke with Wargaming.net’s CEO Victor Kislyi about the massively popular World of Tanks, he claimed there weren’t enough consoles to justify a platform switch or expansion. Apparently, things have changed for the European company in the past couple days, as the new E3 trailer shows the title coming to Xbox 360 this summer. There’s still no plot or storyline to follow, but do we really need a valid excuse to barge around in upgradable, circa-WWII tanks and blow shit up? Probably not.
Our hands-on impression with World of Tanks left us impressed, so much so we awarded the upcoming game the best digital download of E3. It’s not quite as good as the PC version, but it still offers the same engaging gameplay more than 60 million people around the world have grown accustomed to in the last year or so. It’s only a matter of time before Americans finally catch hold of the craze sweeping Europe.
