Apple Attacks Sony’s Walkman Claims

Sony claims their new Walkman can hold 13,000 songs, but Apple says its a higher compression and thus worse sound quality. Apple sounds a little scared in our opinion .

Sony says the player can hold up to 13,000 songs compressed in its own ATRAC format, while Apple claims 5,000 songs for the 20GB iPod. But, says Apple, Sony’s calculations are based on files with greater compresion and therefore of an inferior quality.

‘We’re disappointed that Sony, which is new to this market, has decided to make their first impression by attempting to mislead the press and customers,’ an Apple statement said.
