DXG-125V Camcorder Takes HD to the Great Outdoors

The new DXG-125V HD camcorder caters to outdoor sports enthusiasts with a ruggedized candy-bar design, MP3 player, and integrated carabiner and compass.

DXG is taking high-definition to the great outdoors with its new DXG-125V camcorder, designed to let outdoor soports ethusiasts capture all their greatest moments in 720p glory. The DXG-125V offers a ruggedized, weather-resistant candy-bar design for easy one-handed operation—plus the camcorder includes the all-important carabiner for latching onto packs and gear, and a compass…you know, just in case.

"The DXG-125V is a break-out product in the HD camcorder space," said DXG USA senior marketing VP Paul Goldberg, in a statement. "We are excited to bring such an exciting product to market at such an affordable price, making the quality, compact HD camcorder accessible to all outdoor enthusiasts."

The DXG-125V offers a 2-inch LCD display and captures video at 720p resolution at 30 fps; it only packs 128 MB of onboard storage, but offers an SD slot for up to 8 GB of removable storage. There’s no image stabilization—that would be too much to ask for at the DXG-125V’s price point— but the camera can take 3 megapixel still images, sports an integrated MP3 player, offers a 2× digital zoom, and runs off a rechargeable lithium-ion battery—which might be a problem if you need more juice in the middle of nowhere and all you have is AA batteries. The DXG-125V offers HDMI output for connecting to an HDTV, along with an AV output for connecting to standard definition video gear and USB for offloading to a computer.
