Switches and access points slated to debut next week will compete with Dell products.
Gateway, best known for its consumer line of PCs, plans to announce next week its entry into the business networking-equipment market. The company will offer two types of wireless access point devices and nine types of LAN switches, all for use primarily by midsize businesses, Gateway officials say.
The company plans to unveil the new hardware next Tuesday, according to Chad McDonald, manager of Gateway’s networking division.
The products will be priced to attract a range of businesses in the middle tier between individual consumers and large corporations that might normally deal with Cisco Systems, McDonald says.
