Growing Home Networks
The Diffusion Group envisions managed home networks as the next wave in home computing.
A new study from The Diffusion Group shows that a managed home network service would greatly increase the mass market interest in home networking technology. Selling networking services in the home would appeal to the non-technical, and expand a client base.
“Broadband service providers (BSPs) are in an ideal position to push home networking into broadband households,” said Rachel Avery, author of TDG’s report
In the sluggish home networking market, less than 15% of broadband households without networking services are interested in purchasing a home network in the next year. While there is strong demand for those in the know who build their own networks, the report suggests that without efforts to reach into the non-technical market, demand will soften.
