Is There an iPad Nano Coming Soon?

Faster, then smaller- that is the demand on tech from consumers these days. The iPad isn’t even a week old, and while a faster version is likely inevitable sooner or later, it now appears that a smaller version may already be in the works for a 2011 release.

Website DigiTimes is reporting that a 5 to 7 inch version of the iPad Nano could be out as soon as Q1 2011. The article also suggests a possible retail price of around $400.  The device would likely be aimed at the digital media market.

But don’t go putting your pre-orders in quite yet. Rumors of an iPhone Nano have been around since the initial launch in 2007 (and continue to circulate), and analysts went as far as to suggest technical specifications, release dates, and pricing.

Reports released today suggest that the actual first weeks sales figures of the iPad are closer to 600,000 than the initial opening day figures of 300,000. If the report of a companion iPad Nano due out by Spring of next year are accurate, this could spell trouble for HP’s Slate, as well as all the other entrants in the tablet market later this year.
