After initially banning Apple's iPad over the power behind the iPad's wireless tech, Israel has how approved the tablets for import.

Apple’s iPad might be doing great business in the United States so far, but Israel gave the device a rather cold reception: although it’s not officially on sale in the country yet, Israel placed a ban on importing iPads, citing concerns that the strength of the wireless transmitters in the device would disrupt other wireless services. However, the country has now lifted the import ban after conducting laboratory tests on the device.

Travelers whose iPads were confiscated on entering the country will apparently be permitted to retrieve their devices.

Israel’s regulations for wireless devices aren’t particular different from many other European nations, but Israel so far has been the only country to place even a short-lived import ban on iPads. However, the ban apparently won’t significantly impact Apple’s plans to roll out the iPad internationally: the company recently delayed the iPad’s international launch until late May in order to meet unexpectedly high demand for the devices in the United States.
