JVC Brings Everio GX-HM400 Camcorder to U.S.

JVC has brought its 10 megapixel, flash-based GX-HM400 camcorder to the United States, featuring optical image stabilization, face detection, and slow-motion modes.

JVC launched its 10 megapixel flash-based Everio GZ-HM400 camcorder in the Japan during the summer, but had now brought the unit to the United States in time for the beginning of the holiday electronics season. The GZ-HM400 features a 10 megapixel resolution (it can also shoot 9 megapixel still images) and can capture slow motion video at 120, 300, and 600 frames per second—enough to draw out those action shots into epic masterpieces. Plus, the unit packs consumer-friendly face detection and optical image stabilization to keep subjects smoothly in focus.

The GZ-HM400 features 32 GB of built-in flash memory for storage, and can also store and offload to SD/SDHC cards. The camera sports a Konica Minolta HD lens, shoots at up to 1080i resolution at 24 frames per second in AVCHD (MPEG-4 AVC/H.264) format, and offers a 2.8-inch swing-out LCD viewfinder for framing shots. The camera has a mini HDMI output for hooking up to a big screen, and long with USB 2.0 connectivity, a mic input for connecting up a separate microphone. Aimed at consumers, the camera also features one-touch controls to push content to either iTunes or YouTube.

The GZ-HM400 is available now for a suggested retail price of $999.95.
