Klegg Mini V12s to Support Video

Klegg has announced its forthcoming Mini V12 players will start at less than $100, handle digital video, and the top-end 4 GB model will offer Bluetooth connectivity.

In an announcement short on both hype and specifics, boutique electronics maker Klegg has announced plans to introduce its Klegg Mini V12 portable media players by mid-summer (we assume that means July or August). The new players will sport 1, 2, and 4 GB capacities—and the 4 GB model will sport Bluetooth connectivity, so users can use wireless stereo headsets with the players.

But that’s not all: the new units will support digital video (MP3, WMA, MPEG4, WMV, DIVX and AVI formats) on a built-i 1.8-inch color LCD screen. Klegg describes the V12s as being slightly smaller than a current Apple iPod, and utilizing a lithium-polymer battery which will offer up to 20 hours of playback between recharges. No one’s going to pack an entire season of Battlestar Galactica or Law & Order in a couple of gigabytes, but the players may be particularly interesting to folks who take short video clips with camcorders or camera phones, or who can’t get through a day without their favorite Ask a Ninja episodes.

Klegg says more distribution details will be available soon, but the V12s will be for sale online and at select retail locations at prices starting under $100.
