Sony Brings the Bling with Swarovski Photoframe

Kodak Shows off World’s First OLED Frame

If LCD frames didn't quite make your pictures pop the same way prints color prints do, Kodak's $999 OLED frame may be the (expensive) solution.

With Sony already having snatched the title for first commercial OLED television with the XEL-1, Kodak moved in to capture a title on its own turf Wednesday with the very first OLED picture frame. The new Kodak OLED Wireless Frame uses a 7.6-inch OLED display to display digital photos with superior color, contrast and viewing angle compared to traditional LCD frames.

The new display technology will imbue the frame with a stunning white-to-black contrast ratio of 30,000:1, as well as a complete 180 degree viewing angle, and 800 x 480 resolution. To supplement that top-of-the-line tech out front, Kodak has also added a host of other features, including Wi-Fi for pulling photos from the Web or computers, an unusually high 2GB of internal memory, and stereo speakers for music to accompany photo slideshows. It will also play digital video – meaning we might just see some of them hacked into “budget” OLED televisions in the future.

Of course, there’s really nothing budget about OLED displays these days, since the Kodak OLED Wireless Frame will carry an MSRP of $999 when it sees the light of day on store shelves in November.
