Motorola today announced the immediate nationwide retail availability of the Motorola SBG1000 wireless cable modem gateway and its SB5100 cable modem.
The SBG1000 combines a Motorola SURFboard® cable modem, wireless networking access point, Ethernet router and switch, print server, and advanced firewall, all in one. The Motorola SB5100 is thelatest in a series of Motorola high-speed cable modems and offers the greatest performance in the product line to date.

Part of Motorola’s “connected home†strategy to expand consumer access to information and entertainment, the SBG1000 addresses the recent growth in home networking, which In-Stat/MDR analysts predictwill grow 20 percent year over year through 2007. Also today, Motorola Broadband announced the retail debut of the DOCSIS 2.0 certified Motorola SB5100 cable modem. Another offering in its “connected home†product line, the SB5100 represents thenext generation of Motorola’s award-winning SURFboard family of broadband modems and provides a three-fold increase in speed on DOCSIS 2.0-compatible cable systems.
The SBG1000 and SB5100 are immediately available to consumers. Motorola is leveraging its relationships with more than 3,000 retail outlets nationwide to bring the new “connected home†products tostores including Circuit City, Best Buy and Office Depot. The SBG1000 is on hand in more than 1,000 locations of these retail outlets.
