What it could have been! <br />
Somebody in management needs to be fired. This could have been the best mp3 player on the market but they forgot who their competition really is. I purchased this player in hopes it was what it said it was: a mp3 player that works soley off flash memory cards; no hard disk like the ipod, etc. A true athlete's dream, a ton of music that has no moving parts! Unfortunately they let themselves get in the way. I was looking for something to replace my existing mp3 players. I had a Rio but lost the overpriced proprietary cable to the computer, so it became worthless. I then bought a MPIO, a darn good player, but only held up to 364 mb. It's software was pityful, though, but you could bypass that problem. You could plug the SD card into your reader, and poof, a true drag and drop harddrive system. Then pop it into the player and go. That's where panasonic screwed up. Not only do you need the overpriced proprietary cable, you also need their overpriced proprietary battery. A simple AAA battery, easily purchased anywhere in the world, would have been the consumer's choice. But the real kicker is their sorry software. What in the world were they thinking or scared of? It's way too difficult loading up the 1gig SD card. And to make changes, you can't just read the card the simple way, you have to erase the entire card and start again. Hey folks, what about the ole "Drag and Drop" system? It's not brain surgery, they just forgot to ask us, the consumer Save your money and purchase a portable cd player that plays mp3s for $29.95. You can drag and drop 100+ songs, use AAA batterys, and not be tethered or dependent upon a dang cable to render it useless when you son loses it at home. What if your're out of the country and the battery dies? It becomes useless unless you remembered to bring all the cables. Ridiculous. Thanks for allowing me to rant. george
